Here are some photos of our adult Missions Trip to Dulac, Louisiana in June, 2009. The Missions Trip team consisted of Wayne Straitz, Mark Reidy, Bill Gawell, Temple Riehl, Sam Moore Sr., Billy Pyles, Sam Moore Jr., Jamie Birger and Becca Kornahearns. Dulac is about 1,250 miles and about 21 hours of driving from Sykesville. The average income in the Dulac area is around $10,500 per year and the region experienced heavy damage from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Even though several years have past since the storms, the people of Dulac still need a tremendous amount of help. During our trip, we worked on seven houses. Various members of the team installed new moulding, new floors, a new kitchen cabinet, a new screen door and two new air conditioners. We also gutted the inside of a house that was heavily damaged by the hurricanes, and started the floor for a addition for the house. Several team members also cleaned up a lot of construction trash and moved several truck loads of furniture.
The Missions Team would like to thank the St. Pauls United Methodist Women, and the congregations of St. Paul's and Gaither for their very generous financial support.
